Sterling G West, MD
Sterling G. West, MD, is Professor of Internal Medicine and Associate Rheumatology Division Head for Clinical Affairs at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (UCSOM) in Aurora. He is also Co-Director of the Metabolic Bone Disease Clinic at UCSOM. He was the previous Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director for over 30 years.
Dr West received his undergraduate degree at the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. Dr West completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and a fellowship in Rheumatology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, is a Master of the American College of Physicians (MACP) and a Master of the American College of Rheumatology (MACR).
Dr West's research activities are extensive in several areas of Rheumatology where he has numerous presentations and more than 100 published abstracts, articles, and book chapters. He is the editor of the book, Rheumatology Secrets. He is past Deputy Editor of Arthritis andRheumatism and serves on several ACR and ABIM committees including the ABIM SEP Committee in Rheumatology. In addition, he is a reviewer for Arthritis and Rheumatology, Journal of Rheumatology, and the Annals of Internal Medicine. For the last several years he has been selected as one of the Best Doctors in America, Top Doctors in America, and 5280 Denver’s Top Doctors. Dr West has received many honors and awards including the ACP Laureate Award, the ACR Distinguished Clinician Scholar Award, the ACR Distinguished Fellowship Program Director Award, and the University of Colorado Full-time Physician Award
