Christopher Ritchlin, MD, MPH
Christopher Ritchlin, MD, MPH is a Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Allergy, Immunology and Rheumatology division at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and Director of the Clinical Immunology Research Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, New York.
Dr Ritchlin attended medical school at Albany Medical College and completed his medical residency and chief residency at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York. He trained as a fellow in rheumatology at the New York University Medical Center and remained as a postdoctoral fellow for 2 years. He then spent an additional year in the lab of Dr Robin Poole in Montreal, Canada. He joined the faculty of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1991. In 2009, he earned an MPH degree at the University.
Dr Ritchlin’s research efforts have centered on understanding the mechanisms that underlie joint inflammation and bone damage in inflammatory arthritis over the last 20 years. In particular, he has employed a variety of imaging modalities before and after targeted therapies to better understand inflammatory and osteoclast pathways in preclinical models and human disease. He has published over 100 manuscripts on topics related to psoriatic arthritis, lymphatic mechanisms of joint flare and bone remodelling. Dr Ritchlin is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Rheumatology. He is a member of and is on the Planning Committee for the ACR Winter Rheum Meeting, the Steering Committee for Spondyloarthritis Association of NA (SPARTAN) and the Scientific Advisory Committee for the National Psoriasis Foundation.
